About Us
Presentation
ProGen (meaning Next Generation) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization registered with the Beninese government under No. 2017 | 1909 | DEP-LIT / SG / SAG-Assoc, as of April 12th, 2017.
We are a development and advocacy organization, working in the fields of education, health and human rights. Our target groups are the most vulnerable and underserved populations in Benin, predominantly children, women, and community based groups working with them. Our projects are implemented within the Littoral, Atlantic, Borgou, and Alibori states, and are focused on:
Children and adolescents’ formal education
Sexual and reproductive health
Vocational training for out-of-school girls
Women’s empowerment
Mission and Values
ProGen's mission is to protect the rights of children and women and to create a better future for Benin’s next generation. To put this mission into practice, we strive to provide our target vulnerable populations with services to improve their lives now and to build a better future.
We recognize that formal education is the foundation of all development, and we have set ourselves a number of goals in this area. For example, one of our projects is to provide school supplies, uniforms, school lunches and tutors, to ensure the best quality primary and secondary education. Our goals in education include:
Providing poor children and in particular girls throughout Benin with scholarships to support them to go and stay in school
Mobilizing community resources to support the schools and parents’ associations to improve the school environment, quality of education and protect children, especially girls, from abuse
Promoting equitable access to basic education, for all children without distinction based on religion, ethnicity or gender.
Through its activities, ProGen put into action its values their objectives.

We monitor our activities each step of the way, modifying our implementation as needed to maximize the impact of the assistance we provide. We continuously strive to work more effectively with our partners in all fields of service and together provide youth with a better future.
Integrity and Transparency
We believe in the value of all people we serve and strive to treat all with respect and compassion. We are absolutely transparent in our fund allocation and accounting to donors. We reject all illegal or unethical practices, and ensure our partners adhere to our standards.
